EUROAVIA Athens is testing new rotors for optimum aircraft efficience!

EUROAVIA Athens performs rotor (propeller) tests for their aircraft, that will participate at the international competition Air Cargo Challenge, taking place in Germany in July 2024. According to this competition, an aircraft motor is given and each participant's aircraft design should use this motor.

The performance of different rotors is tested against different wind speed cases and different motor rotational speeds, in order to select the optimal rotor-motor combination for the aircraft. For this purpose the tested rotors are mounted on the motor that is placed on a custom made aluminium base and parameters like: the voltage of the aircraft battery, the current drawn from the motor, the rotational speed of the motor, the rotor thrust, and the wind tunnel speed are measured.
